BEIJING, May 15 (Xinhua) -- The Central Military Commission (CMC) has decided to establish three new higher learning institutions under the People's Liberation Army (PLA) to adapt to the adjustment in services and arms and enhance military talent training, a Chinese defense spokesperson said Thursday.
Jiang Bin, spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, said at a press conference that all three institutions will begin enrolling high school graduates.
According to Jiang, the three new colleges include one focused on the army branches -- formed based on the Army Academy of Armoured Forces and the PLA Army Academy of Artillery and Air Defense, with its main campus located in Hefei, Anhui Province; one focused on information support -- formed based on the related schools of the National University of Defense Technology and Army Engineering University of PLA, with its main campus located in Wuhan, Hubei Province; and one focused on joint logistics support -- formed based on the Army Logistics Academy and the Army Military Transportation University, with its main campus located in Chongqing Municipality.
Specific information on academic programs and enrollment quotas will be released in line with the annual admissions schedule, the spokesperson added. ■
