MEXICO CITY, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Alexis Vega scored two goals and set up another as Toluca advanced to Mexico's Liga MX Clausura final with a 3-0 home win over Tigres UANL on Sunday.
Mexico international winger Vega put the host ahead from the penalty spot in its semifinal second leg after defender Joaquim Henrique brought down Portuguese striker Paulinho.
Edgar Lopez made it 2-0 when he received Vega's pass on the counterattack and skipped past his marker before sending a low strike into the far corner.
Toluca was in an unforgiving mood and Vega put the result beyond doubt with a mazy run and powerful finish from 12 yards that beat goalkeeper Nahuel Guzman at his near post.
The result handed Toluca a 4-1 win on aggregate after the teams drew 1-1 in the first leg.
Toluca will face either Club America or Cruz Azul in the two-legged final, scheduled for May 22 and 25.
Cruz Azul holds a 1-0 advantage from the first leg of its semifinal, with the return match to be played on Sunday at America's Ciudad de los Deportes stadium in Mexico City. ■
